A Father's Love
As a husband of 17 years and a father of four of the most awesome kids in the world, I think it is really important to fully understand my role as a father. Unfortunately, we don't talk to much about that these days. Really I doubt we ever have talked about it much. Seems to me if it was something we had been talking about, it would have never reached the level of confusion it has today. So I ask the question, what am I supposed to be as a father? Am I supposed to be the bread winner? The coach? The checkbook? Going to work to earn enough money for my wife and kids to do whatever they want to do and me sit quietly in my recliner watching ESPN until the wee hours of the morning, only to go to bed with the dread of doing it all again tomorrow. Unfortunately this was the way I lived my life for many years. And, I feel it is the way many men are living their lives to day. My desire is now to empower men to believe there is more!!! God created you for more. "Living the dream" is not grinding it out day after day just to watch it all fade away one day when the kids are gone. God created you for legacy! Ever thought about passing on your name? It's not just tradition that we pass on our name, it is legacy. But legacy goes so much deeper than a name! We will leave a mark with everything we do and say. So, What will your mark be? Will it be that you were a good provider, or maybe a dad that stayed? Don't get me wrong those are good things but the mark needs to be deeper than that. Doesn't it? Back to the question then, "what am I supposed to be as a father?". The thing that God has revealed to me is this, God is a Father, and God is Love, therefore a father must equal love! I know, men do not want to hear this! But maybe its because this word love has been dumbed down in our culture today. My goal is to start the discussion of what Love really is. God's kind of love. A Father's Love. -Seth Keenum
