What's in a name? (and week 3 reading plan)

This week's reading continues pushing the promise of a nation to another level. As Jacob’s family continues to grow it is quickly becoming the nation of Israel. In today’s reading we see sin become a strong struggle for this family, and by the end of the week, they will be a nation in complete bondage as a result of this sin.

A note for today: Today's reading is a lot about names. Jacob is changed to Israel and Benoni is changed to Benjamin.

What’s in a name? Rachel called him Benoni, which means son of my sorrow. Jacob changed it to Benjamin, which means the sin of my right hand.
Maybe you have been given a name of negativity. I don’t mean your given name but maybe through something you have been called. Or maybe something you call your self. The old saying is names will never hurt me. But we all know that names can give us our identity. What is your identity? Whatever name you have been given today it can be changed through a relationship with Jesus. He makes all things new! Find your identity in Him!
